What It Means

Love is the standard behind every action.

CMS regards the Law of Love as its highest guiding principle. It stands above pride, position, anger, revenge, and personal interest. It requires every Marshal to remember that the purpose of the Service is to protect the people and help preserve peace.

Love is not weakness. It requires courage, patience, truthfulness, self-control, fairness, and the strength to choose what protects life and dignity—even when that choice is difficult.

Love in Practice

Six commitments that guide CMS.

Protect the People

Place the safety, rights, and dignity of the people above pride, position, anger, or personal interest.

Preserve Peace

Use calm communication, patience, and de-escalation whenever peace can be honorably preserved.

Seek the Truth

Follow facts and evidence with an open mind. Never treat an accusation, assumption, or rumor as proof.

Respect Human Dignity

Treat every man and woman fairly, including the person seeking help and the person being accused.

Exercise Restraint

Choose the least harmful responsible action and never use authority, position, or force to satisfy pride or anger.

Remain Accountable

Document decisions, accept review, correct mistakes, and answer honestly for every action taken in the name of CMS.

Before We Act

Every decision should pass the test of love.

Before acting in the name of CMS, a Marshal should be able to answer these questions honestly.
